Artist's Statement

“Zofscape” is a multi-media installation. The exhibit is both physical and virtual, bringing together animated video, digitally designed art, LED programmable light, and original music. One can experience the interplay of the voluptuous sculptures as they appear to undulate in provocative and multi-colored response to mysterious and contemplative music.

The sculpture creations evolved from a life-long fascination of anthropomorphic and animated shapes. I have revisited these natural forms throughout my entire career as an artist specializing in painting and sculpture. Each flat laser cut sculpture is digitally designed using “wire-frame mesh,” providing an interplay of light and color, so as to create perceived 3D organic and voluminous forms.

In the animated video, the dream-scape-like presentation of the sculptures draws the viewer virtually into an immersive experience. The viewer becomes visually transported through an imaginary room filled with 3D voluminous forms. My original soundtrack corresponds with the journey, accentuated at key points to highlight certain forms. The music has layers of sound and voice, creating an ethereal ambiance for both the video and the sculptures.
